The world is collapsing in general and, as it has in the past, America is leading by example. Some Americans conflate patriotism with a denial that America that the United States of America is failing. These people will proclaim that America is the greatest country in the world while ignoring all of the metrics that suggest this status may no longer be true now or in the future
Instead of seeking to eliminate the disparities that are tearing the richest nation on the planet apart, these "patriots" choose instead to demonize anyone who may want to make life in America better. They have to do this because to seek to improve something, one must admit that it is not the greatest. Even if you're comparing today's America with the America that you knew as a a child, teen or young adult, they don't want to hear your arguments for such claims. As an example, look at the arguments put forth by Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump when the two of them were running against each to become the President of the United States. Trump's slogan was Make America Great Again (MAGA). Clinton's rebuttal to Trump's campaign slogan was something to the effect. "I think America is already pretty great". While I suspect that neither of these rich people is truly in touch with the plight of the masses, Clinton's denial that America was in need of improvement could never resonant with the hundreds of thousands , if not millions of Americans who find themselves homeless, poor, untrained for the modern world, or otherwise resource-starved. Her refusal to acknowledge the problems that millions of Americans were living with had to have lost here a lot of votes.
So, if you're an American and someone says to you "If you don't like America, why don't you leave?", you should respond with something like this...
I love America, so I want it to be the best America that it can be. In the past, America offered more opportunities for a better life for successive generations. I just want it to offer those same opportunities (if not more) to my children and yours. Why should there be more poverty, homelessness, food insecurity in the richest nation the world has ever known? How can America continue to be the greatest country to live in, if it continues to be worse than it was yesterday or last year, decades or century? Especially when the lives of people in other nations are improving
In 2018, I wrote a book highlighting the problems Humanity would face if more power, wealth, and control was funneled to a small group of elite individuals, groups, or organizations. In my book, I provided solutions (from myself and others) to the inevitable problems and also a means for the Public to analyze, compare, and contrast the words and deeds of those we choose to follow against reality. In my book Solutions: Enough complaining. Let's fix America.
In "Solutions...", I provide the means for readers to disseminate information as provided by their news sources of choice, their elected officials, and any other authority they choose to follow. The book also offers a means to hold their leaders up, not just to a higher standard than is currently accepted but to one that would improve their lives and the lives of those for whom they care.
