Covid-19 and its ripple effect have disrupted the global supply chain, resulting in significant strain on our entire supply infrastructure. There are shortages in raw materials, diminished capacity in both domestic & international float glass production, and limited availability of logistics providers. This supply and demand imbalance have led to significant cost increases across all segments.
The impact of these challenges is not something we take lightly. We understand the severe effects this strain is having on our customers and their clients. While we cannot control global supply chain disruptions, we are working tirelessly to find solutions that improve glass availability and delivery times. We anticipate this situation may last the remainder of 2021. In addition, we are doing everything possible to limit the impact of our cost increases.
We also offer polished or seamed edges. Polished edges incurs an additional cost; however, it also provides a smooth round edge. Seamed edges does not incur an additional cost, nor will the edge cut you. Seamed edges are a rougher look and are usually used when the mirror is sitting inside a metal or wooden frame.
In addition to standard mirrors, we also provide beveled mirrors. They are not in stock and must be ordered which takes approximately 7-10 business days to receive once an order is placed. We can bevel square or rectangular mirrors. Our bevels can be anywhere in thickness from 1/2 to 1 . Our customers can choose how large they would like the bevel. We recommend a thicker bevel if the mirror is going into a frame because the frame may hide a portion of the bevel.
Ricks also offers beveled mirror strips and beveled mirror corners. The strips can stand alone or be used in conjunction with a mirror with the beveled mirror corners to act as a mirrored frame. We offer the strips and corners in 2 or 3 inches in thickness. These do have to be ordered and are usually ready within 7-10 business days.
Another option for adding a custom finish is sandblasting. Sandblasting can etch intricate patterns or lettering, which will remove the silver backing and leave only the glass. To take it a step further, some people add LED lights to backlight the etchings and create a cool effect. It is a spectacular look.

Maybe you've heard that one of the best ways to clean road film - the grit and grime that comes from traveling - off your windshield is to pour a can of soda over the glass. Or use shaving cream. But do these really work?

With these mirrors distinctive frames and shapes, they can really enhance your décor. Larger full length wall mirrors, or smaller ones grouped together like mirror art, make a room look brighter and bigger.
They say the eyes are the mirror to your soul. But what about actual mirrors? What can they reveal? Well, they may not be able to say anything about your soul (although, that outfit is looking pretty dope). But they sure can provide an eye-opening interior design detail!
Space is always an issue when you have a big family, a small living space, or both. Still, you need to get ready for the day and you want to look your best. What do you do when the bathroom is occupied, the kids are playing in the hallway, and your better half is napping in the bedroom? Just grab a table mirror and you're good to go!
If you do have some room to play around with, a dressing table mirror might be a neat option. A mirror like that will fit nicely on top of your dressing table and will showcase a bit more of your wonderful self. Thus, making it easier to nail the outfit of the day.
Mirrors can be used very creatively in copper foiled stained glass work. You can use them as a regular looking glass, or incorporate them into lamps or panels. All you have to do differently is make sure you treat the mirror pieces with edge sealant. Here are some useful tips on how to use them and how to avoid mirror discolouration and damaging the backing.
A first surface mirror or front surface mirror (also commonly abbreviated FS Mirror or FSM) is a mirror with the reflective surface being above a backing, as opposed to the conventional, second surface mirror with the reflective surface behind a transparent substrate such as glass or acrylic.
I put my mirrors on a brick in a large shallow box, and spray around each edge, turning the box around. Two coats is more effective than one if you can stand it. Do this before leading or copper foiling.
Milly, your tip on working with mirrors was great, especially for beginners. I have had good success sealing the edges first, then spray painting (saves a lot of time) the entire back of the mirror. This does take time to dry before foiling, ( I wait until the next day) but has worked well for me over the years.
Mirrors can make your home look larger and brighter while reflecting your unique style sensibility, so they're a great addition to any interior design. If your home has unique space constraints or there's a very specific mirror style you're after, you can have a custom mirror created.
Custom mirror prices vary by several factors, but a 36-inch square custom mirror usually costs around $150 to $350, depending on the customizations. Find out how much custom mirrors cost based on factors like size, customization type, and whether you hire a pro to do it.
A basic 36-inch square mirror with a seamed edge usually costs around $80 to $100. However, a seamed edge is essentially an unfinished edge, so the mirror will need to be beveled or framed to be safe in your home. Adding beveling, framing, or other customizations will drive up costs.
You can save some money by framing the mirror yourself with a DIY kit. Mirror framing kits are available at many home improvement stores and usually cost around $50 to $100, depending on the size and materials you choose.
Most mirrors are made with glass that's 1/4-, 3/16-, or 1/8-inch thick. Square wall mirrors larger than 36 inches should be at least 1/4-inch thick for safety reasons. Square mirrors less than 36 inches are typically safe to use in any of the three standard thicknesses.
Typically, the thicker the glass, the more expensive (and durable) the mirror. For instance, a 36-inch square mirror with a seamed edge and 1/4-inch thickness usually costs around $80 to $100, while the same mirror with 1/8-inch thickness ranges from $50 to $70.
Seamed: Seamed edges, also called "broken" edges, are sanded down with an aluminum oxide-based sanding tool to remove sharp edges. But this edge type is still quite sharp, so it's typically only used when the mirror's edge will be covered by a frame. A 36-inch square mirror with a seamed edge and 1/4-inch thickness usually costs around $80 to $100.
Beveled: Beveled edges are cut and polished to create an angular border, usually around one inch wide. These are commonly used on frameless mirrors to add some texture and visual interest while softening the sharp edges. A 36-inch square mirror with a one-inch beveled edge and 1/4-inch thickness ranges from $160 to $200.
Polished: Polished edges are typically used on glass-top tables, but some very large mirrors, like those found in fitness studios, often use this edge type in lieu of bevels since beveled edges can reduce the durability of very large mirrors. A 36-inch square mirror with a machine-polished edge and 1/4-inch thickness costs around $85 to $120. 041b061a72
