In the micro (meaning individual) Americans sound smart. When I talk to my fellow Americans, it is surprising how many of them know the problems we face. Whether it's the economy or war or describing the differences between a man and a woman many Americans I've talked to sound as if they have an understanding of these topics.
It is when I look at the American population on a macro scale that it seems as if few, if any, understand the severity of the issues we face. They all seem to accept their diminished lives which shrink in both scope and possibility. I conclude this because I compare and contrast between the news sources funded by billionaires seeking to maintain power and the reality in which the rest of us live. There is a large charm between the narrative present by the Main Stream Media and the economy I see with my own eyes. As more money is funneled to the ultra wealthy through wars, real estate, stocks, treasuries, poverty wages, commodities and more, people seem content. As every American loses just a little more of their wealth and self-determination, they go to work so others can get richer. As American stokes yet another conflict that only benefits American corporations, employees of those war profiteering corporations attend meetings that seek ways to provide more profit to the war mongers at the top. In my professional life, I've attended meetings in which the discussion centered around giving millions of dollars to people who already had multiples of millions of dollars and were getting multiples of millions of dollars to build our infrastructure so we could pay multiples of millions of dollars to use that infrastructure.
These people seemed to understand that the American empire was crumbling around their collective feet. They seemed smart enough to realize that the excess their employer's made every day meant a deficiency in their own personal ledger everyday. They didn't however seem to realize that their's and the fate of the nation was in their hands. They seemed content to choosing a side. It was either the Democrats fault or it was the Republicans fault. Regardless of the outcome, which only ever seemed to benefit the oligarchs funding some Republican or democratic candidate's campaign, these drones only committed their time to their respective corporate overloads.
Today, the actions which brought about change rarely occur. Until the recent protests over the Israel's retaliation in Gaza there were scarcely any antiwar protest. As a matter of fact antiwar protestors have been painted as unpatriotic and demonized accordingly. Regardless of the outcome of American aggression, anyone speaking out against American intervention was shunned and silenced and cancelled. Any whistleblowers were imprisoned or forced to flee to other nations because they expose America's war crimes in other nations or America's domestic policies of illegally spying on its own citizens.
In America, Anthony Fauci can literally cause the deaths of millions around the world by funding illegal Gain of Function research with little to no real reprisal for such actions. In America Boeing can continue to make airplanes as it is discovered that the company uses faulty, worn out, defective parts in its manufacturing of its planes. In America, illegal immigrants are not only allowed to flood into this country but they received more assistance than actual citizens or LEGAL immigrants in this country. These behaviors as well as having an obviously incompetent president can only lead to certain conclusions. In America, merit means nothing. In America, greed is above all else. In America, you had better keep your head down as the elite pillage your coffers and steal your children's inheritance, futures and lives.
In the micro, Americans know what wrong. Some even know how to stop or reverse the problems America faces. In the macro however, there is no will to do what is necessary to change course, as people go to work then go home only to do it all again the next day. Americans seem content on paying taxes that only seem to go to pay the salaries of people who do nothing for the majority and everything for a minority of wealthy individuals and corporations, so those individuals and corporations can give them yet another job that keeps them in debt for life.
Side note: when will American demand wages that do more than merely allow them to survive? When will Americans demand that at least some of their tax dollars go to amenities that provide for activities other than work, eat, TV, sleep, work, eat, TV, sleep. Rinse and repeat. In Miami, I've concluded that we pay taxes for the Sunshine, because this city offers no activities that are affordable to most. Miami used to be a place where there was something to do every weekend, but this is no longer the case. This isn't speculation or an instance of me simply getting older, it is a fact that is displayed by one local newspaper. In Miami, the NEW TIMES was the paper one used to map out their weekend. In its pages, the New times detailed events occuring throughout the city. I believe the paper was approximately fifty to one hundred pages longs. I could be wrong on both the upper and lower range as stated, but it doesn't matter because today the New times is ten pages long, if that. For a city in which the costs of living is approaching New York costs of living, you would think there would be something for those of us who aren't rich to do to blow off steam. Afterall, should those of us who serve the wealthy be kept happy? The way everyone is keeping their heads down, I guess the answer is "No".
In 2018, I wrote a book highlighting the problems Humanity would face if more power, wealth, and control was funneled to a small group of elite individuals, groups, or organizations. In my book, I provided solutions (from myself and others) to the inevitable problems and also a means for the Public to analyze, compare, and contrast the words and deeds of those we choose to follow against reality. In my book Solutions: Enough complaining. Let's fix America.
In "Solutions...", I provide the means for readers to disseminate information as provided by their news sources of choice, their elected officials, and any other authority they choose to follow. The book also offers a means to hold their leaders up, not just to a higher standard than is currently accepted but to one that would improve their lives and the lives of those for whom they care.
