It is already too late to stop Artificial Intelligence (AI). Logic dictates this to be so and I will explain why with the following points:
Why would anyone create an AI that couldn't learn and evolve... That would simply be another software app. Either those who are putting out these AIs for public consumption are lying when the classify their creations as Artificially intelligent or their programs can actually learn and get smarter. Think about it like this. The Luna Labs Dream Machine can create short videos that look like a movie studio filmed then... How long would it take you to create such videos? So, we have AIs that are accomplishing tasks in moths, weeks days that it would take us to learn in years. Our development is and will continue to fall behind or do you think the upcoming generations can learn to compete against something like Luna Labs Dream Machine
If AI are meant to evolve and they are already publicly available, who's to say some hacker hasn't improved on the AI that are available online right now. Not just ChatGPT but other, lesser known AI are available now with the intention of deceiving the viewer into believing something that is not real. While the Hedra AI does not create videos that could fool anyone as yet, they have created one that can do video editing that would have taken hundreds or thousands of hours create. Look at this short clip which was created in a matter of minutes and was generated from a single image taken more than 15 years ago. Just check back in a few months and see if you notice any improvements.
There are certain AI creations of which most people cannot distinguish as real or fake and this may improve to the point at which no one can distinguish between real and fake. At that point, the AI has not only matched but surpassed Humanity's abilities in this regard. As of right now, the American government and I assume many governments around the world can't stop other Humans from committing nefarious acts online that defraud people out of their wealth. What happens when an AI, created or hacked is programmed to defraud banks, the Government and entire economic systems? What happens when an AI infiltrates all of the infrastructure that is controlled by computers. What happens to communications when our cell phones and the technologies necessary for the proper functioning of cell phone is compromised by an AI. What happens when Tesla cars can be hijacked by an AI?
Now consider the possibility of such an AI already have been released. Let's assume it was less intelligent than we are or were at the time of its release, but has had 25 years to evolve? Well l, then you'd have the plot to my screenplay "Parity" in which we must create an artificial intelligence to keep one released decades ago from killing all of Humanity.
In 2018, I wrote a book highlighting the problems Humanity would face if more power, wealth, and control was funneled to a small group of elite individuals, groups, or organizations. In my book, I provided solutions (from myself and others) to the inevitable problems and also a means for the Public to analyze, compare, and contrast the words and deeds of those we choose to follow against reality. In "Solutions...", I provide the means for readers to disseminate information as provided by their news sources of choice, their elected officials, and any other authority they choose to follow. The book also offers a means to hold their leaders up, not just to a higher standard than is currently accepted but to one that would improve their lives and the lives of those for whom they care.
