Eye opener for June 04, 2024: 3 days

There is an average of three (3) days worth of food in an average grocery store. What happens on day four (4)?

Instead of focusing on the negative, I would like to draw from the optimistic side of my pessimistic-optimistic character. I would like to present the solutions I provide in my book below. Here is my outrageous solution to our dependency on mega food corporations for sustenance.

When I drive through Miami, I see lawn after lawn after lawn. Some are greener than others, but all require water, whether that water comes from natural sources like rain or from the water we pay for from the city. Acre after acre of front and backyards that serve no purpose other than an aesthetic one. Imagine if we could eat all of that grass. Imagine if it tastes like tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, grapes, oranges or any number of produce items. How much would we save on our grocery bills could be diminished or wiped out completely if we could only eat that grass. Wellllll. There is a simple solution that could make this hypothetical a reality.

What if we torn out all of our lawns and planted a garden in its place. Of course most of us would be able to completely eliminate our grocery list, but we would be able to subsidies our own lives. What if every neighbor grew a different crop, so the entire neighborhood looked like a series of small fields? What if we rotated those small field every so often? Not only would this help avoid creating a monoculture, but it would allow neighbors to get reacquainted as the knowledge to grow the crop being rotated out of one yard is shared to help a neighbor grow it in the next yard. And, what if at the end of the harvest season, there was an excess that could be sold to the next block or traded for some crop not grown in your own neighborhood.

If this sounds like a step backwards, what must the neo-feudalism into which we are moving must sound like to those who are paying attention? Doubt this claim? What else would you call a work in which a few own everything that they rent out so the rest of us can live or make a living off of? And, like I've warned for years, the step after the return to feudalism is slavery. Setting aside the brutality of American slavery, Capitalism is only different in that the Master doesn't pay your room and board. Don't believe this, see how long you last without a job?

In 2018, I wrote a book highlighting the problems Humanity would face if more power, wealth, and control was funneled to a small group of elite individuals, groups, or organizations. In my book, I provided solutions (from myself and others) to the inevitable problems and also a means for the Public to analyze, compare, and contrast the words and deeds of those we choose to follow against reality. In my book Solutions: Enough complaining. Let's fix America.

In "Solutions...", I provide the means for readers to disseminate information as provided by their news sources of choice, their elected officials, and any other authority they choose to follow. The book also offers a means to hold their leaders up, not just to a higher standard than is currently accepted but to one that would improve their lives and the lives of those for whom they care.
